Shane is the owner and founder of Peppermint Clinic.
Trained as a registered nurse with a background in District Nursing, Shane has developed his skills in aesthetics and is known for flourishing a syringe and needle like Harry Potter flourishes a wand (comments made by clients). Shane has several years working for the NHS and working with adult patients in all capacities. Shane has also worked alongside some amazing people in the NHS that have given him the transferable skills needed to deal with people/clients in all aspects of his nursing career.
Shane has been trained by some of the best aesthetic trainers in the country and is constantly training to keep up with trends and aesthetic treatments to keep Peppermint current and on point with others in the market. Our pricing is very competitive.
Shane has great respect for his clients and treats everyone as he likes to be treated. Here at Peppermint no question is too small, we are honest and not afraid to turn people away if not suited to aesthetics. We just like our clients to undertake their own research about their preferred treatment, pick the right medically trained practitioner and be honest about their expectations.
Mr Meecham studied medicine at the Russell Group Cardiff University School of Medicine. After completing his foundation years of training at the Royal Gwent Hospital, including a rotation under the vascular service, he moved to the West Midlands to undertake core surgical training in general and vascular surgery. Achieving broad clinical experience as well as national research presentations, he progressed to higher surgical training in vascular surgery. Training in some of the highest volume units in the UK that provide some of the most complex cutting-edge vascular surgery, Lewis has gained a broad in-depth experience in vascular surgery.
Alongside clinical training, his affiliation with the vascular surgical department of the University of Birmingham provided a strong platform for surgical research. Lewis produced a number of publications looking at the assessment and treatment of patients with peripheral arterial disease, those patients being screened for abdominal aortic aneurysm disease (in the national abdominal aortic aneurysm screening programme) and training in endovenous techniques for varicose veins. As well as peer-reviewed publications, Lewis has presented his findings at multiple national and international conferences.
Lewis has returned to Wales as a consultant in vascular surgery at the Cardiff and Vale University Health Board, where he undertakes the full range of vascular surgical procedures including minimal access varicose vein procedures.
Vein Surgery
Lewis is still an active player for Cilfynnydd RFC; he also enjoys mountaineering, Crossfit and Stand-up Paddleboarding.
While working in the University Department of Vascular Surgery (University of Birmingham) Lewis was the research fellow and part of the trial management group for the pivotal BASIL-2 and 3 trials (largest randomised controlled trials for peripheral arterial disease in Europe). During this time, he produced a number of high impact publications concerning the treatment of patients with the most severe form of peripheral arterial disease – chronic limb-threatening ischaemia.
As well as arterial research, this department's commitment to developing the evidence base for venous treatments allowed Lewis to perfect his skills in minimally invasive treatments for patients suffering from venous insufficiency (radio-frequency ablation, endovenous laser, endothermal steam and ultrasound-guided foam sclerotherapy). Here he developed his passion for evidence-based, NICE recommended, treatment for patients suffering from arterial and venous disease.

Mr Davies qualified from Imperial College School of Medicine. Huw began his training in London at the prestigious Charing Cross Hospital and simultaneously became interested in vascular surgery as house officer. Subsequent to this teaching hospital experience, Huw broadened his clinical horizons working in general surgery at the large, busy and highly regarded Great Western Hospital Foundation Trust. Even at this early career stage Huw presented and published peer-reviewed work before moving to undertake higher surgical training in the West Midlands taking up residence with his consultant physician wife in Birmingham.
The extensive experience available in this training programme including the association with the vascular surgical department of the University of Birmingham Medical School has been translated into Huw’s profile as an experienced vascular and endovascular surgeon. The research was continued by Huw within the academic department of vascular surgery within this well-respected medical school which has researched and practiced at the forefront of medicine for nearly 200 years. The research work Huw culminated in his medical doctorate (MD) plus several national and international presentations of his findings and won an international prize funding his invited research presentations world-wide. Huw returned to Wales to take up the role of consultant vascular and endovascular surgeon working in the University Hospital of Wales and Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board. Experienced to perform the full range of vascular procedures Huw’s innovative research work and clinical experience have given him a particular interest in venous disease.
Thus, Huw is trained in the full range of endovenous procedures for these (as recommended by NICE guidelines), including endothermal ablation (radio-frequency ablation, endovenous laser ablation and endothermal steam ablation), along with this Huw’s academic work and practical experience have culminated in his being a keen proponent of ultrasound-guided foam sclerotherapy. Dedication to patient safety, the patient experience and non-invasive procedures led Huw to publish the largest set of safety data in the world in this field (including over 10,200 treatments across Europe); he maintains a keen interest in research and advancing the professional and patient understanding of vascular diseases and their treatments.
Huw is a member of the major vascular and venous societies, including the Vascular Society of Great Britain and Ireland, the European Venous Forum and the American Venous Forum and has presented his research on venous disease at international meetings in every one of these societies. The research for his doctorate was based on the impact of NICE guidelines on the management of varicose veins and leg ulceration (the worst complication of varicose veins) and as such, Huw is a keen advocate for patients and the use and safety of minimally invasive techniques to treat venous disease to improve patient's quality of life, reduce symptoms and respect their comfort and ability to work in partnership with their surgeon. Huw is not only concerned with safety and expertise in operating he is also keen to show patients respect, to be a source of full and clear explanation and to be a sympathetic ear in every consultation.
